About US

History behind the Glenore Grove Scout Group

The Glenore Grove Scout Group held its inaugural meeting in the Glenore Grove State School Staff room on 28/03/1995 under the direction of Shane Gishford, Group Leader. The first AGM was held on 11/05/1995 where Florin Godebye, Karyn Askew and Vicki Splatt were elected office bearers. On 31/03/1995 Peter Jensen led the first Scout meeting. On 3/05/1995 Bernadette Jensen and Dale Sloane led our first Cub Scout meeting where Joeys also attended until Eric Markets "Crow" commenced a sperate section in August 1995. Venturers later commenced in May 1998 and Rovers followed in February 2006. The Group meetings where held at the school grounds until after a lot of hard work fundraising the group was able to meet the repayments and relocate to the current Den being the first Group in Queensland to have a Den located within school grounds. This wouldn't have happened without joint efforts of Greg Farr (the then principal), Shane Gishford and Dennis Brockmann from Moreton Region Scout, Parent Group Committee and Education Queensland. Our group has now been operating for 21years with thanks to long-term efforts from the following families: Askew, Bleumink, Godebye, Hardiman, Jensen, Lander, Logan, Markets, Mitchell, Roeton, Splatt and Thompson. We look forward to adding more families to this list as time passes by.
